WHY REALWORLD MASTERING?

"I got really frustrated by the sound that was evolving into modern music."
Although i was working mainly in electronic and dance music during the 90's i got really annoyed by the relentless compression that was beeing done on singles that were put out on the market. The loss of punch and dynamic properties in arrangements made me realise that people were imitating the sound of radio stations, the cheapest way to compare their own music with contemporary hit songs.

Although this tactic of getting the listener's attention was stupid by default this has landed the music world in a completely out of hand "loudness war", reducing peak signals (transients) in music from 5-8 dB to as less as 0.2dB, making the music sound penetrating at low levels and like a wall of highly irritating continuous sound (eventually noise). Even the quietest passages within a rockballad sounding at near full loudness.

That frustration, combined with the sound of computerised digital mixing made me realise that we are on a way to self destruction.
A lot of records in the 2000's until now are starting to sound generic and uniform. No "authentic sound" of a song, but a "calculation" of added variables rendered into a mix started to frustrate my desire to play really good music in sound, arrangement and mix.

That's why i started this mastering service, combined with the remix value of Mixroom.one i want to give back to the music world what the digital advancements have costed us.

Great, deep, professional mix and mastering quality, tailored to the song and to the format that's chosen to distribute it.

That is why we support the Dynamic Range Foundation!

Karel Sebastiaan Post, 49
I started in the early 80's as deejay quickly moving to sound engineering and music for advertising, television and music production for record labels and artists. Worked as a legal consultant for bands and labels and was music publisher in projects for Bertelsmann, Ariola, Sony, XSV, Horizon, Capitol Records and many more.

Karel has a sound that is instantly recogniseable. Many artists and labels employ him for his classic aproach in mixing and mastering. The main advantage of Karel's mixing style is that these mixes are future-proof, dynamic and alive. Full bandwith and able to cut through any processing, be it on radio, television or online streaming distribution.
